For folks who knew me before I left my hometown of Fresno to attend UC
Berkeley, it may come as a surprise that I have thrown myself full-force into the field of
sexuality and sex education. I went to a Catholic elementary school, whose curriculum
only covered abstinence-only education, and my high school sex ed was minimal at best.
For those who know me now, however, it is no surprise that I have spent the past
three years working as a sex educator and supporting sex-positive organizations. Arriving in the Bay Area
enlightened me and enabled me to pursue my interest in healthy sex practices. I spent
two years as a peer educator at UC Berkeley with the Sexual Health Education program.
I dabbled in some volunteer work with San Francisco Sex Information, as well as the
Center for Sex and Culture. I then worked at Good Vibrations as a Sex Educator/Sales
Associate, which brings me to where I am today!
My title at ISIS is Program Assistant, which means that I am able to be a part of
the projects that ISIS creates or participates in. I have the opportunity to reach out to
various communities that are in need of sex education, and incorporate my passion into
the workplace. I am constantly refining my skills and interests, both to grow as a person
as well as to improve the world around me. I hope to one day receive my MPH and
continue on in the field of sex education.
My interests include wine, houseplants, knitting, and foreign films.
