AIDS.gov
AIDS.gov uses emerging communication strategies to provide access to Federal HIV information, policies, programs, and resources. The website provides a new media toolkit for health organizations to develop a new media plan, and user-friendly fact sheets on the various types of new and social media.
CA STD/HIV Prevention Training Center (PTC)
The CA-PTC Youth Social Marketing Toolkit provides an overview of how agencies with limited financial resources can develop a social marketing campaign that reaches youth and young adults around STI and HIV prevention. The information provided will guide you through the many decisions that must be made throughout this process with practical examples.  
CDC
CDC social media tools are available to help promote your teen pregnancy prevention efforts. This quick reference guide can be used as a companion to the CDC Social Media Toolkit for Health Communicators  [PDF- 3.76MB], and specifically highlights a number of social media tools (such as badges, buttons, e-cards, Facebook, podcasts, Twitter, widgets) with credible, science-based teen pregnancy prevention messages from the CDC. 
ISIS Projects
ISIS (Internet Sexuality Information Services, Inc.) is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization using digital and mobile media to educate, inform and advocate for youth sexual health. Our mission is to provide leadership, innovation, educational resources and research in digital sexual health promotion and disease and unplanned pregnancy prevention. ISIS’ Sex::Tech Conference Presenters
Sex::Tech is a two-day annual conference hosted by ISIS, Inc. that brings health and technology professionals together with youth, parents and community leaders to advance the sexual health of youth in the U.S. and abroad. Presentations are archived from national and international researchers, program interventionists, academicians and advocates. Topics such as Finding Partners Online: Risk Associations among Black Adolescents; Evaluating Internet-based HIV Prevention Strategies; and Automating HIV Testing Consent, Education and Evaluation have been covered in recent years.
Pew Center for Internet and American Life
The Pew Internet & American Life Project is one of seven projects that make up the Pew Research Center, a nonpartisan, nonprofit "fact tank" that provides information on the issues, attitudes and trends shaping America. The Internet & American Life Project website is the go-to source for current free data and statistics regarding youth and media use. The website provides current usage stats, regular reports on new media trends, and raw data sets for analysis.
Youth Sexual and Reproductive Health in the Digital Age: A White Paper
This ISIS white paper, completed April 2011 and funded by the Ford Foundation, takes a deep dive into how youth, particularly youth of color, use technology for their sexual and reproductive health. Over 1500 youth were surveyed; focus groups conducted in Oakland, CA and Chicago, IL and key stakeholders were interviewed. Source for current new media usage statistics around HIV, STI and unplanned pregnancy prevention, and recommendations for successfully integrating new media into your programs and services.

CDC Division of HIV/AIDS Prevention
CDC’S HIV/AIDS surveillance system is the nation’s source for timely information to track the epidemic. CDC funds and assists state and local health departments to collect data on a methodical, regular basis. Prevalence statistics, incidence reporting, fact sheets, and recommendations and guidelines, are useful for literature reviews, grant proposals and program planning.
CDC Division of Adolescent and School Health (DASH)
CDC’s Division of Adolescent and School Health (DASH) promotes the health and well-being of children and adolescents to enable them to become healthy and productive adults. The DASH website has a variety of resources on adolescent health, including HIV, STI and unplanned pregnancy prevention, data from the national Youth Behavior Risk Survey, publications, research papers, and program evaluation tools and training.
Dept. of Health and Human Services, Office of Adolescent Health (OAH)
The Office of Adolescent Health (OAH) coordinates adolescent health programs and initiatives across the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services related to adolescent health promotion and disease prevention. The Publications and Research page consists of overviews and links to various OAH research studies and evidence-based programs, including those related to teen pregnancy prevention and HIV prevention. Excellent source of evidence-based information for grant writing, literature reviews, and other program planning activities.
Dept. of Health and Human Services, Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality
The Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality’s (AHRQ) mission is to improve the quality, safety, efficiency, and effectiveness of health care for all Americans. This link to ARHQ’s research fact sheet describes the agency’s past and present research projects that look into the quality of healthcare for children and adolescents, including HIV prevention and care services, as well as tools and suggestions for improvement.
Find Youth Info
FindYouthInfo.gov was created by the federal government’s Interagency Working Group on Youth Programs (IWGYP). The IWGYP promotes the goal of positive, healthy outcomes for youth through this interactive website, identifying and disseminating promising strategies and promoting enhanced collaboration. FindYouthInfo is a comprehensive website with information on projects within various youth topics, including teen pregnancy and HIV prevention, resources by geographic location, evidence-based programs, and a funding information center.
Guttmacher Institute
The Guttmacher Institute advances sexual and reproductive health in the United States and worldwide through an interrelated program of social science research, policy analysis and public education designed to generate new ideas, encourage enlightened public debate and promote sound policy and program development.
Jane Fonda Center at Emory
The Jane Fonda Center works to advance scientific knowledge about adolescence with an emphasis on adolescent reproductive health. Activities include education and training, research, evaluation, policy development, as well as program and materials development. The website provides a list of the Center’s completed key research projects, linking to each issue, project, and result. Information on the Center’s in-progress projects is also available.
Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, Center for Adolescent Health
The Center for Adolescent Health is committed to assisting urban youth become healthy and productive adults. Together with its community partners, the Center conducts research that identifies the needs and strengths of young people and tests programs designed to promote their health and well-being. The website has a search tool to narrow inquiries about specific research projects by topic. In addition to categorizing research studies, the website provides a complete project archive link.
RAND Corporation: Juvenile Sexual Behavior Research
RAND corporation is a global non-profit organization improving policy and decision making through research and analysis. RAND studies have examined such topics as prevention and intervention strategies, virginity pledges, the influence of the media on adolescent sexual behavior, and the link between romantic teen relationships and later adult marriages. The website showcases research briefs and journal articles written and vetted by RAND.
SEICUS
SIECUS-the Sexuality Information and Education Council of the United States- was founded in 1964 to provide education and information about youth sex education and sexual and reproductive health. The SIECUS research page includes study updates, policy updates, information and education links, and various additional resources that can be used for literature reviews, grantwriting and program planning.
University of Minnesota Adolescent Health and Medicine
Home to one of the original Leadership Education in Adolescent Health programs, the Division houses a Prevention Research Center focused on healthy youth development and the State Adolescent Health Coordinators Resource Center which serves as a communication and training resource for the nation’s State Adolescent Health Coordinators. The website provides an overview of their currently funded research projects .

Evidence-Based Programs

CDC Diffusion of Effective Behavioral Interventions (DEBI)
The Diffusion of Effective Behavioral Interventions project (DEBI) is a national-level strategy to provide high quality training and on-going technical assistance on selected evidence-based HIV/STD/ Viral Hepatitis prevention interventions. The interventions have been proven effective through research studies that showed positive behavioral change (e.g., use of condoms; reduction in number of partners) and/or health outcomes (e.g., reduction in the number of new STD infections). CDC’S DEBI page lists structural, community- level and group-level interventions. Each intervention page has links to its core elements, research effectiveness data, resources and tools, implementation materials and training specifications.
The DEBIs that relate to youth and HIV/STI and unplanned pregnancy prevention are below:
CDC DEBI: Popular Opinion Leader (POL)
This community-level intervention involves identifying, enlisting, and training key opinion leaders to encourage safer sexual norms and behaviors within their social networks through risk-reduction conversations.
CDC DEBI: PROMISE (Peers Reaching Out and Modeling Intervention Strategies)
Peers Reaching Out and Modeling Intervention Strategies: This community-level intervention is based on several behavior change theories. A community assessment process is conducted, peer advocates are recruited and trained from the target population, role model stories are written from interviews with the target population, and these stories are distributed along with other risk reduction materials to target audiences to help people move toward safer sex or risk reduction practices.
CDC DEBI: Mpowerment
This community-level intervention is for young gay and bisexual men of diverse backgrounds. It mobilizes men to reduce sexual risk taking, encourages regular HIV testing, builds positive social connections and supports peers to have safer sex. 
CDC DEBI: RAPP (Real AIDS Prevention Project)
Real AIDS Prevention Project: A community mobilization program, designed to reduce risk for HIV and unintended pregnancy among women in communities at high risk by increasing condom use. This intervention relies on peer-led activities, including: outreach/one-on-one brief conversations with brochures, referrals, and condom distribution; small group safer sex discussions and presentations.
CDC DEBI: SISTA
This group-level, gender- and culturally- relevant intervention, is designed to increase condom use with African American women. Five peer-led group sessions are conducted that focus on ethnic and gender pride, HIV knowledge, and skills training around sexual risk reduction behaviors and decision making.
CDC DEBI: Street Smart
A multi-session, skills-building program to help youth practice safer sexual behaviors and reduce substance use. Sessions address improving youths’ social skills, assertiveness and coping through exercises on problem solving, identifying triggers, and reducing harmful behaviors. Agency staff also provides individual counseling and trips to community health providers.
CDC DEBI: Together Learning Choices
Together Learning Choices (TLC) is an effective intervention for young people, aged 13 to 29, living with HIV, and it is delivered in small groups. This program helps young people living with HIV identify ways to increase use of health care, decrease risky sexual behavior and drug and alcohol use, and improve quality of life.
Advocates for Youth - Report on "Programs that Work"
Advocates for Youth identifies programs that have been evaluated and are proven effective in teen pregnancy prevention, STI prevention, sexual health awareness, and risk reduction. The website also identifies promising programs, effective curricula and education programs, and resources on organizational development, training and strategic assistance, and publications.
Find Youth Info - Evidence-Based Program Directory
The FindYouthInfo Program Directory is a searchable database of evidence-based programs to reduce problem behaviors in youth. Each program page contains an impact statement, target age group, intervention description, evaluation and impact outcomes. Pregnancy prevention and HIV prevention programs for youth are included.
SEICUS
SEICUS’ Information and Education Center contains useful information on a variety of sexuality topics, including teen pregnancy prevention, STDs, and sexual orientation. Each topic area contains fact sheets, publications, bibliographies, policy, community action, and research updates, lesson plans, and more.

Organizations

Advocates for Youth (AFY)
Established in 1980 as the Center for Population Options, Advocates for Youth champions efforts that help young people ages 14-25 in the U.S. and around the globe make informed and responsible decisions about their reproductive and sexual health. AFY’s website provides information for youth activists, professionals, and parents. It includes links to policy and advocacy information, curricula and resources, staff blog posts, and how to get involved with the organization.
AIDS Alliance for Children, Youth, and Families (AIDS Alliance)
AIDS Alliance for Children, Youth & Families is a national non-profit membership organization. It was established in 1994 to give voice to the needs of women, children, youth, and families living with and affected by HIV and AIDS. The AIDS Alliance website offers information about the organization, education and training opportunities, resources, policy and advocacy priorities, and agency updates.
APA Healthy Lesbian, Gay, and Bisexual Students Project
The Healthy LGB Students Project is funded by the CDC Division of Adolescent and School Health to provide capacity-building assistance to schools and other organizations that serve gay and bisexual young men at risk for HIV infection, especially African-American and Latino youth. Their goal is to help schools, families, and communities promote the healthy growth and full development of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and questioning (LGBQ) youth.
The Black AIDS Institute
The Black AIDS Institute is a national HIV/AIDS think tank focused exclusively on Black people. The Institute’s mission is to stop the AIDS pandemic in Black communities by engaging and mobilizing Black institutions and individuals in efforts to confront HIV. The Institute interprets public and private sector HIV policies, conducts trainings, offers technical assistance, disseminates information and provides advocacy mobilization from a uniquely Black point of view.
GirlsHealth.gov
Girlshealth.gov was created in 2002 by the U.S. HHS Office on Women’s Health (OWH) to help girls (ages 10 to 16) learn about health and growing up. Girlshealth.gov promotes healthy and positive behaviors in girls, giving them reliable and useful information in a fun, easy-to-understand way. The website also provides information to parents and educators to help them teach girls about healthy living.
Girls Inc.
Girls Incorporated is a nonprofit organization inspiring girls to be strong, smart, and bold through a network of local organizations in the United States and Canada. Girls Inc develops research-based informal education programs that encourage girls to take risks and master physical, intellectual and emotional challenges. Major programs address math and science education, pregnancy and drug abuse prevention, media literacy, economic literacy, adolescent health, violence prevention, and sports participation.

National Network for Youth (NN4Y)
The National Network for Youth has been serving the youth of America for more than 30 years by championing the needs of runaway, homeless and other disconnected youth. They do this through advocacy, innovation and services through and by their member organizations. National Youth Advocacy Coalition (NYAC)
The National Youth Advocacy Coalition is a social justice organization that advocates for and with young people who are lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, or questioning (LGBTQ) in an effort to end discrimination and to ensure LGBTQ youth’s physical and emotional well-being. NYAC’s website expands on its vision and mission, provides links about the agency, its programs, resources, how to join the NYAC network, volunteer opportunities, and the NYAC blog.
Native Youth Sexual Health Network
The Native Youth Sexual Health Network (NYSHN) is a North-America wide organization working on issues of healthy sexuality, cultural competency, youth empowerment, reproductive justice, and sex positivity by and for Native youth.
